Job Description Job Description Job Summary: The Assembly
Engineer (Intermediate Level) is a hands-on position responsible
for supporting projects from initiation through completion,
including fabrication, assembly, programming, testing, customer
inspections, and on-site installations. This role performs CNC
milling and drilling operations and utilizes a variety of manual
fabrication equipment, including lathes, welding equipment, band
saws, drill presses, manual milling machines, and cutting tools to
fabricate and modify components. The Assembly Engineer programs CNC
machines, sets up tooling and fixtures, and builds mechanical
assemblies from 2D blueprints and 3D CAD models. In addition to
mechanical assembly, this role installs and routes electrical
wiring, control cables, and instrumentation in accordance with
electrical schematics, panel layouts, and applicable codes and
standards. The position also assembles and installs piping and
tubing, including hose routing, fittings, manifolds, and leak
testing, to ensure proper system operation. This position also
operates material-handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead
cranes to safely move and position components and assemblies. The
role works closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to
ensure high-quality, reliable equipment delivery and requires
limited travel (approximately 10–15%) for on-site installation and
support. Responsibilities and Duties: Support projects from kickoff
through completion, including fabrication, assembly, CNC
programming, testing, customer inspections, and on-site
installations Perform CNC milling and drilling operations,
including machine programming, setup, tooling, and fixtures
Fabricate and modify components using manual and CNC equipment in
accordance with 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, and GD&T Assemble
mechanical systems, subassemblies, and complete machines for custom
and production equipment Conduct trial runs, functional testing,
and troubleshooting to verify system performance and reliability
Support customer inspections, commissioning, and limited on-site
service (approximately 10–15% travel) Operate material-handling
equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes safely and
effectively Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to
resolve issues, improve processes, and maintain quality and safety
standards Education & Experience: Associates degree or technical
diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Machining, or a
related field preferred Equivalent combination of hands-on
experience, technical training, and demonstrated skills will be
considered in place of formal education Typically, 5–10 years of
hands-on assembly, fabrication, and CNC machining experience in an
industrial or manufacturing environment Skills and Competences:
Hands-on experience with CNC milling and drilling, including
programming, tooling, and complete machine setups Proficiency with
manual fabrication equipment (lathe, welding, band saw, drill
press, manual mill, and hand tools) Ability to read and interpret
2D blueprints and 3D CAD models, with working knowledge of GD&T
and dimensional inspection Strong mechanical aptitude with
experience assembling, fitting, and troubleshooting machinery and
mechanical systems Understanding of machining fundamentals,
material properties, and fabrication best practices Experience of
operating shop and material-handling equipment, including forklifts
and overhead cranes (certification preferred or willingness to
obtain) Commitment to safe work practices, quality workmanship, and
attention to detail Ability to work independently while
collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams; strong
communication and documentation skills
