Discovery Life Sciences is a trusted provider of genomic, bioanalytic and biospecimen services to hundreds of customers across the U.S. and around the world. The Production Planner contributes to our mission by developing, maintaining, and executing the forecast and capacity planning of our genomics laboratory. The qualified individual will be coordinating and scheduling of services in a production environment. They work closely with department managers, laboratory supervisors and other staff to ensure that production schedules are met to the highest quality standards. The position is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of planning master data, as well as monitoring and reporting of all applicable performance metrics.Education Requirements:* B.S. Business, Supply Chain, or a related field required, Masters or PhD preferred.Qualification/Experience:* 3-5 years of experience in production planning or a related field.* Strong knowledge of production and inventory management principles.* Experience with genomics, and Next generation sequencing technologies* Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills* Proficient in Microsoft Office and production scheduling software* Experience with MRP, ERP or other inventory management software* Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment* Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure* Strong leadership and team-building skillsEssential Duties/Responsibilities:* Manage forecast and capacity planning of our genomics laboratory, including reviewing daily and weekly forecasts and providing production teams with information to meet customer demands;* Utilize business intelligence tools and data to optimize demand forecasts vs. capacity, understand demand problems, and communicate with relevant stakeholders to mitigate and resolve issues;* Create and maintain metrics and associated dashboards;* Understand partner organizations current business needs and strategic directions and their impact on workflows;* Establish and maintain clear communications with partner organizations and genotyping lab production;* Exception and prioritization management, including bottleneck management, requesting changes, and monitoring/communicating capacity utilization;* Work cross-functionally to accurately reflect recent trends and achieve continuous improvement in demand forecast accuracy and other demand planning measures;* Create, update, and maintain pertinent documentation related to forecast and sample submissions;* Solve complex problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning;* Lead workflow optimization using business intelligence tools and data;* Present compelling, validated solutions to peers, senior management and internal customers to drive operational changes.* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
