Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is seeking a talented and
motivated mid-career Principal Systems Engineer or Analyst to join
our team in Huntsville, AL.
The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's
Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Performance Analysis team. GMD
is currently the only deployed strategic system that can defend the
United States from long range attack by threat ICBMs. We need a
motivated and innovative candidate with experience in missile
defense concepts, operations, software programming.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The candidate will apply expertise in engineering/physics to
perform systems performance analysis on the GMD system. Performance
analysis entails identifying and finding root causes behind
deviations from the system performance requirements.
The responsibilities of the job include:
Use simulations of the GMD system to characterize performance and
assess technical performance measures that are derived from
simulation output.
Present and explain results to other engineering teams and managers
in a clear and concise manner.
Help train and mentor other engineers in conducting performance
analysis.
Leverage software programming knowledge to create independent tools
to assist in automation and evaluation of results from the various
simulations. This includes tools to load the simulation on blade
servers, pre-processing tools for quality checks and formatting,
and post-processing tools for formatting outputs, plotting results,
and analyzing results.
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5+ years of relevant
experience or master's degree in a technical field and 3+ years of
relevant experience or PhD with studies in a technical field with 0
years minimum experience
Monte Carlo simulations to produce performance data experience.
Modeling and/or assessing performance data for a missile defense
system or relevant equivalent experience.
Writing software scripts and tools to automate processes such as
quality control checks, data formatting, and managing runs on a
blade server cluster experience.
Position requires a current Secret Clearance and U.S.
citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a missile defense program (GMD, Aegis BMD,
THAAD, etc)
Basic understanding of common missile defense concepts such as
system and source tracks, application of radars to tracking,
covariance and error, defended area, and the kill chain concept of
operations.
Demonstrated ability to apply these concepts to assess performance
of a missile defense system or component.
Experience in leveraging aerospace concepts to develop software
scripts.
Ability to write scripts in Python and/or Matlab.
Salary Range: $95,100.00 - $142,700.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
