Job Description:

This position is in support of the METTS II contract as a part of the Aerie Aerospace Joint Venture (JV) located at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) on the Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville Alabama. The primary role will be to support the (NASA) Marshall Space Flight Center Structural Strength Test Branch and contractor personnel in support of NASA Structural Strength Research and Development. The candidate will interface directly with MSFC customers, technicians and other Test Lab Team members. The candidate will receive direction from the Department Manager or Team Leads and must be able to work from written and verbal instructions. The candidate will perform other duties as required.Duties include, but are not limited to* Perform and provide specialized insight and guidance for the selection and installation of strain gages on various materials (i.e., steel, aluminum, Inconel, composite [spun and layup], and carbon fiber) in ambient and cryogenic applications; on flat, curved, porous and rough surfaces; for wet and dry conditions over operational temperatures of -420--F to +350--F.* Develop and provide instrumentation training, to include stain gage principles and installation, and conduct "hands on" strain gage installation training classes.* Assist ET30 management and engineers with instrumentation estimates and the planning of new work.* Lead ET30 METTS personnel in performing instrumentation efforts of various sizes to include very large projects/tasks which may require travel to the customer's location.* Must be Proficient in Soldering, Crimping, Wire-Wrapping, and Fabricating Cables.* Installing and Verification of Instrumentation such as Strain Gauges, Pressure Transducers, and Thermocouples.* Buildup, Configuration, and Maintenance of Structural Test Instrumentation Systems and the Associated Structural Test Data Collecting and Testing Infrastructure.* May require periods of inside and outside work, subject to all weather conditions and extremes; frequent walking, standing, climbing and periods requiring awkward physical positions; regular and sustained periods of strenuous physical exertion, the ability to lift, carry and position heavy or bulky objects utilizing proper body mechanics and techniques; operation of equipment which may cause loud noise levels or vibrations; may require the exercise of caution when operating material handling equipment or when handling chemicals.Requirements* Must be able to provide proof of United States Citizenship and pass a basic pre-employment background check.* Shift work and emergency overtime may be required which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required to support customer needs. * Must possess a valid state driver's license.* Travel may be required. * Subject to random drug testing* Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.* Must adhere to MSFC and OSHA safety requirements, including use of appropriate PPE when necessary and follow written technical procedures.* Will be required to obtain and maintain appropriate certifications.* Must possess basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).* Good communication and customer service skills.* Must be detail oriented and highly organized. * Must possess a basic electrical and mechanical aptitude.* Skilled and knowledgeable in the use of hand tools.
