Senior Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer (5) Company The Boeing Company Job ID 1800083979 Date posted 11/06/2018 Location Huntsville Alabama United States Job Description Overview: * The Boeing InterContinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Command & Control (C2) Codes & Crypto organization is seeking engineers to support the ICBM Cryptography Upgrade Increment II (ICU II) Production Program in Huntsville, AL.-- * This program is tasked by the U.S. Air Force customer to produce and deliver 506 nuclear critical communication equipment assemblies as part of an upgrade of ground C2 subsystems for the existing Minuteman III ICBM weapon system.-- * There is currently an opportunity for a Systems Engineer responsible for the development of documentation, performance of oversight activities, and briefing of nuclear surety impacts, activities, and status for the ICU II Production Program.-- Note: Initially, several extended trips to the Boeing facility in Huntington Beach, CA will be required to accomplish knowledge transfer and to perform coordination with the existing technical team. Responsibilities: * Gather source data and develop and/or update nuclear surety related documentation, e.g., a Nuclear Safety Analysis Report (NSAR), Nuclear Certification Impact Statement (NCIS), Certification Requirements Plan (CRP), and Nuclear Surety Evaluation Report (NSER). * Be the technical point of contact for, and regularly brief Air Force and other stakeholder organizations on nuclear surety impacts, activities, and status, e.g., at quarterly Nuclear Surety Working Group (NSWG) meetings at Hill Air Force Base, UT, and at periodic Nuclear Weapon System Surety Group (NWSSG) meetings at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM. * Support activities required to prepare for and conduct major customer events such as Production Readiness Review (PRR), First Article Testing, Pre-Physical Configuration Audit (Pre-PCA) and PCA. Qualifications Basic Qualifications (Required): * This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) * Bachelor---s degree (or higher) in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics * Total of 14 or more years engineering experience, the majority of which includes nuclear surety requirements, compliance, and certification activities / processes * Current secret-level DoD security clearance or higher Assets (Preferred): * Prior nuclear critical communication equipment development experience * Prior Minuteman III ICBM weapon system experience Typical Education & Experience : Level 5: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
