The Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) Team is looking for a security engineer to participate in the systems development, deployment and sustainment life cycle performing security analysis activities. The candidate selected will be expected to perform security related tasks including, but not limited to; identification of applicable security requirements, providing guidance to products, with a focus on the Communications Network Product Team, to meet those requirements and control potential vulnerabilities. Work with product teams to obtain relevant security patches, support testing of patches, and deployment of them to development laboratories and field assets and to report patch level status to the customer. Participate in the identification and analysis of system and component level security requirements to determine security criticality. Inspect, test, analyze or demonstrate security features of the products to formally certify security requirements have been properly applied. Preparation and coordination with the Prime customer, of security assessment reports along with other security documents. Support review of design, engineering analysis, and test data to evaluate compliance with software security requirements and adequacy of vulnerability controls. Provide direct technical interaction with other product teams with technical software security expertise. Duties will cover all phases of product development including defining and allocating requirements, detailed design, code, testing, and operational experimentation. Concentration will be on network infrastructure (i.e. switches, routers, firewalls, proxy, IOS, RADIS, TACACS, circuit actions, Cisco, Palo Alto, Tripwire). The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. HUNTSALMSTR Basic Qualifications: This position may be filled at either a level 3 or 4. BQs for a Cyber Systems Engineer 3: requires 5 years with a Bachelors; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. 4 additional years acceptable in lieu of a degree. BQs for a Cyber Systems Engineer 4: requires 9 years with Bachelors; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. 4 additional years acceptable in lieu of a degree. US Citizenship and the ability to get a DoD secret clearance required. Must be able to obtain an ISC2 or COMPTIA security certification within 6 months of employment. Strong background in securing computer Networks Strong understanding of computer Networks Working knowledge of computer and network security implementations Working knowledge of NIST 800-52 Risk Management Framework security requirements Working knowledge of identification and authorization mechanisms Working knowledge of security test tools Working knowledge of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides Current Information Assurance Technical 2 professional security certification such as Security + required or must obtain within 6 months of hirePreferred Qualifications: Degree in STEM discipline Professional Network Certification is desired Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) desired Knowledge of Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) desired Familiarity with DoD security compliance documents and UNIX, AIX and Windows environments is desired.
