Title:
Systems Safety Engineer
Kord Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of KBR, is currently
seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to perform engineering
assessments and analyses on the Land Vehicles equipped with High
Powered Lasers and Laser Support Equipment in support of the
Directed Energy program. The Systems Safety Engineer will implement
elements of system safety engineering pertinent to DoD Directed
Energy programs. This position will include supporting the
development, implementation, and management of safety processes,
procedures, and requirements, as well as the identification and
management of system safety risks. The Systems Safety Engineer will
work will the program team to ensure program compliance with all
requirements and regulations related to environmental safety and
health, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, human factors,
reliability engineer, explosive safety, and/or facility safety.
Job Responsibilities:
Will independently identify and quantify system safety risks and
work with the program team to manage the identified risks and
implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Will assure program compliance with Government and Industry safety
requirements specifically focused on high-energy laser safety.
Will develop System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), Fault Tree
Analyses, Hazard Analyses, Hazard Mitigation Strategies, Safety
Assessment Reports, Safety Risk Assessments, System Residual Risk
Assessments, and Job Safety Analyses.
Will review program systems, support equipment, facilities,
specifications, and operations, and establish safety requirements
for assigned systems and subsequently audit operational areas to
determine effectiveness of program system safety.
Will develop safety documents as required to support operational,
test, or range requirements and will assure safe conduct of all
systems during testing and demonstrations.
Will provide real-time and post-test support for investigations
involving anomalies, accidental damage to products or facilities
and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action
development.
Will analyze contractor safety programs and flow down all program
safety requirements to vendors
Will provide detailed reports and recommendations for mitigation
strategies for identified safety risks and will prepare and present
technical presentations to all levels of leadership to effectively
convey key information.
Will participate in Safety Panel Reviews and other associated
meetings and briefings with program team, customers, and
vendors.
Will review operational scenarios, engineering changes,
specifications, and technical documentation for safety impact.
Qualification Requirements:
BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or other STEM field
from an accredited Engineering University and 3 to 5 years related
experience.
Must have excellent oral and written communications skills and the
ability to develop working relationships with customers, vendors,
program team, and leadership.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically the use
of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must be able to travel (minimal).
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must have demonstrated experience with system safety review
processes and conducting and documenting design and test
reviews
Experience developing Safety System Program Plans and Safety
Analysis Reports and performing Preliminary Hazard Analyses and
System and Subsystem Hazard Analyses is desired.
An understanding of industry and directed energy safety standards
(ex: MIL-STD-1425, MIL-HDBK-828A, 29 CFR 1910, MIL-STD-882, ANSI
Z136.1, Z136.4, Z136.6, Z136.7 and Z136.8)
Security Clearance: Must have an active Secret clearance
