The Tactical, Communications, and Maintenance Applications (TCMA)
team based in Huntsville, Alabama has new opportunities for
individuals who want to grow their technical expertise on complex
programs and be a part of an innovative and fast-paced avionics
business area. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers
working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-12 people) focused
on the design and development of software-only products. Our team
focuses on creating avionics solutions for both fixed-wing and
rotary-wing aircraft, including the integration of various radios
and surveillance equipment for domestic and international military
customers.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a Systems Engineer professional to join our TCMA
team in Huntsville, Alabama. The successful candidate will
document, integrate and perform V&V activities for the TCMA
team on multiple government platforms. The position will require
the development of software verification test procedures including
but not limited to Python scripts. Execution of software/systems
engineering processes including requirements analysis and capture,
system/sub-system design, software requirements definition,
integration, and formal test for requirement verification. The
candidate will perform these assignments in conjunction with other
system and software engineers using Collins Aerospace engineering
processes. Successful programs depend on teamwork grounded in
internal communication as well as direct interaction with the end
customer including presentations, technical exchanges, and on-site
support.
Job Responsibilities:
Implement requirements, detailed design, implementing software,
integration, and verification in accordance with software
development processes.
Create new and update existing python scripts to support software
testing.
Independently perform multiple tasks, including requirements
development and testing tasks, given support from a mentor or lead
engineer.
Accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborate with
teammates in order to make the best decisions.
Enjoy learning new technologies, be self-motivated and contribute
to a positive work environment.
Typically Requires:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and
minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree
in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant
experience.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Python scripting.
Ability to create requirements and test procedures for an avionics
application.
Ability to test, troubleshoot, and integrate in an embedded
system.
Experience working with DOORS and Atlassian tools (JIRA, JAMA,
Bamboo, and Confluence).
Understanding of software development models (e.g. waterfall,
spiral, agile), languages and tools and application to product-line
reuse across multiple projects and teams.
Knowledge in both embedded systems and hosted application software
development.
