In this role, the successful candidate will lead engineering development activities for projects with production implementation in the three to ten year horizon. - This candidate will work closely with DoD customers to translate warfighter needs into requirements and follow on development projects. This candidate will be responsible for leadership of all development processes closely aligned with DOD 5000 model through milestone C activities. - Projects and activities will be funded though company IR&D and USG funding. The candidate will also collaborate at a senior level with manufacturing, quality and engineering groups to assure that program requirements are fully understood and are achieved for execution of engineering services projects and for production of the existing product configuration. - - In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a Principal Systems Engineer the successful candidate will:

• Develop and implement the Rocket Systems Technology Roadmap.
• Lead IR&D and Cooperative R&D activities.
• Lead Engineering Services and Advanced Development Programs IPT
• Work closely with Business Development to pursue new programs, create technical proposals and collaborate with DoD systems engineers in development of system requirements for new programs.
• Establish milestone schedules for major systems engineering projects. Perform to the program schedules established by the program managers.
• Support contract reviews and program reviews as required, including preparation of presentation materials and guidance to subordinate engineers in preparing their material.
• Lead the Risk Management Program.
• Guide and review the systems engineering work of subordinate engineers.
• Investigate system engineering tools/processes and recommend improvements/upgrades to advance systems engineering performance.
• Knowledge and experience with design and production of guided munition systems.
• Knowledge and experience with DoD Research and Development Centers, USG contracting, DOTC, DARPA projects and USG partnering.
• In depth knowledge of aerospace / DOD requirements and requirements management, requirements verification matrices, derived requirements from customer to internal functional groups and down to suppliers and sub-tiers.
• Working knowledge of aerospace specs and standards (i.e. IPC, MIL-STD, MIL-SPEC, NAVMAT, NADCAP, IEEE, DID).
• Design and process failure mode and effects analysis experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in system analysis practices and tools, such as MatLAB.
• Strong technical writing skills and disciplined approach to documentation and presentations.
• Strong team collaboration and leadership.
• Failure Analysis and Design of Experiments development experience.
• Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.
• Missile and munitions guidance and control experience desired.
• Propulsion, pyrotechnics, explosive experience desired.
• 6DOF modeling and simulation experience desired.
• SWaP trades and bench testing experience desired. Experience and Education Required:
  • 5+ years' experience in DOD/Aerospace Systems Engineering and MS or PhD preferred
