Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team has an exciting opportunity for an Entry level or Associate Systems Engineer - Space Launch System to join the team in Huntsville, AL. NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) is the most powerful rocket ever built, the backbone for a permanent human presence in deep space. The first 3 flights of the SLS will be the Block 1 configuration, with the introduction of the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) in the more capable Block 1B configuration on the 4th flight. The SLS Block 1B will be able to carry an Orion with a crew of four, as well as more than 10 metric tons of co-manifested payload to send astronauts and cargo to the moon.

You will join a diverse team of systems engineers as a member of our Space Launch System (SLS) Core Stage (CS) Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) - Requirements and Verification team. You will work across multiple disciplines, to administer and drive Requirement Owners across multiple teams in the Requirements Working Group (RWG) to efficiently plan, draft, review and baseline Detailed Verification Objectives (DVOs) and Verification Event Summaries (VESs). Additionally, this position will develop and maintain Core Stage End Item Specs, develop and track/lead requirements and compliance status across multiple Core Stages. Additional duties include: design layout R&V reviews, coordination/collaboration with other Boeing engineering teams to resolve DVO/VES comments from the RWG, presentation of review packages at the RWG and Engineering Review and Configuration Board (ERCB), support development and maintenance of requirements metrics, frequent coordination with NASA representatives to the RWG to promote review packages for baselining, frequent use of DOORS for creation and maintenance of verification planning products. You will serve as a core point of contact for customers and will work directly with subject matter experts across the business to quickly iterate and converge on achievable solutions that meet our customers' needs. Our development timelines are aggressive and you will be asked to develop solutions to previously unsolved problems.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background across in systems engineering with focus on requirements, verification and DOORS user experience. You will need to be able to dive into broad, minimally-defined design spaces and effectively lead integrated efforts.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Works well with minimal supervision, ability to work well with others, prepare and deliver technical briefings This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

    The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • 1 or more years' experience or an equavalent combination of education and experience Typical Education/Experience:

        Entry Level:

        Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Associate Level:

        Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Relocation:

        Summary pay range (Entry Level): $68,00 - $92,000

        Summary pay range (Associate): $81,600 - $110,400
