CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

POSITION can be based in Dedham, Massachusetts; Bloomington, Minnesota;
Huntsville, Alabama
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Strategic Communications and Deterrent Systems. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Conduct functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, system integration and test (verification) as you enhance the safety and performance of the system.
As you participate in the design process you will be responsible for the identification of potential hazards through conducting functional and system level hazard analyses, subsystem hazard analyses and participating in the evaluation of installation and maintenance procedures, which are employed by the system operation and maintenance personnel.
Identify what metrics you need and know how to gather and analyze them, as well as knowing what metrics to publish for consumption by other functional departments
Preparing and/or contribution to safety analyses and artifacts which are to be delivered to the program customer
Interface with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
Brief safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
Interpret system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
Prepare internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
Collaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
Willingness to learn Nuclear Surety
Create and develop estimates for future system safety work
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
Familiarity with technical safety standards such as MIL-STD-882 and MIL-STD-1472
Fully proficient use and understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
Comfortable facilitating cross functional team meetings and incorporating feedback from all disciplines
Strong drive to ensure the end user, fellow employees, and the environment remain safe and free of system caused hazards
You have a scientific, fact-based approach; you filter out noise in order to target high-impact design decisions
Fully proficient knowledge of other related disciplines
Recognizes various architectural patterns
Fully proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Fully proficient written and verbal communications skills
Creative thinker
Ability to multi-task
Fully proficient ability in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

Target salary range: USD $107,600.00/Yr. - USD $119,400.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
