This position will be located in Huntsville, AL and will support the Command Launch Team (CLT) in Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for weapon system. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission by ensuring teams are aware of the compliance requirements they will need to meet. Candidates should be highly motivated engineers who can work both independently and in team environments. What you'll get to do: Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary, collaborative teams and contribute to the development of novel sensing solutions and surveillance technologies. The development cycle will include the integration of data collection experiments and cutting-edge exploitation algorithms into both embedded and non-embedded platforms. Potential solutions will be verified against live sensor data. Sensor types span all domains and include active/passive radar, electro-optic/infrared imaging systems, and sonar.Duties will include the development of processing algorithms for exploitation of conventional and advanced concept sensor data in cyber contexts. Resulting algorithms may be integrated into state-of-the-art software products that could potentially run on multi-core, multi-purpose processing architectures, embedded processors, FPGAs, GPUs, or other emerging technologies.Additional tasks include defining software and system interfaces, system integration and testing, and field support of experiments and demonstrations. Work products include written reports, presentations, and project proposals. Develop integration & test procedures, and verification and validation approaches; and develops system operations, sustainment, and maintenance plans and procedures. Creates and analyzes models of a system, with the goals of increasing understanding and searching for incompleteness and inconsistency. Adept at a range of AI development environments/tools (reuse, repository); expert/proficient with the environment being utilized. Applies knowledge from various disciplines to architect and design systems; includes neuroscience, behavioral science, engineering (systems, electrical, mechanical), computer science (distributed computing/programming), philosophy/phenomenology, physics, and mathematics. Uses emerging verification and validation approaches in addition to the traditional ones to test 1) multi-agent systems employing algorithms that produce ever-changing outcomes related to detection and decision, pattern recognition, and prediction, and 2) systems requirements definition for a new class of systems. Follows best practices throughout the Engineering Life Cycle: Stakeholder requirements definition, functional decomposition, design synthesis, implementation, integration, test, verification & validation, operations, and sustainment.As a full-time employee of Northrop Grumman Space Systems, you are eligible for our robust benefits package including:

  • Employee Discounts This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. You'll bring these qualifications:
    • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline from an ABET accredited university
    • US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance adjudicated within the last 6 years
    • Able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
    • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with a bachelor's in science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
    • Comfortable with loosely-defined problems, have a demonstrated ability to think creatively, and draw upon a variety of sources for ideas and solutions
    • Familiarity with AI/ML models and techniques These qualifications would be nice to have:
      • Active IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security+), or higher
      • Software engineering background
      • Active Top Secret security clearance with adjudication in the last 6 years#GBSDsystemsSalary Range: $111,600 USD - $167,400 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
