Job Description Qualifications:

The Missile and Weapon Systems (MWS) Product Security Engineering (PSE) Function is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Product Security Engineer and leader to join our team as the division Product Security Chief Engineer (CE). The MWS PSE team is responsible for the security, resiliency, and safety of our products and services.

In this role, you will be responsible for technical excellence and thought leadership for all division programs and pursuits, and our engineers. You will partner closely with Engineering Management to ensure that our team is best equipped with practices, tools, and training. You will leverage critical experience in cybersecurity engineering, systems analysis, adversity and risk analysis, design mitigation, MBSE or related systems and software engineering, and test & evaluation. The Chief Engineer will work across the division and with the enterprise as programs and opportunities demand. As such, this role directs the development, implementation, and sustainment of new and innovative approaches to integrating product security and resiliency throughout the requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support lifecycle at an enterprise level. You will work across the MWS division, which is a dynamic and growing organization with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of critical missions for National Defense and Strategic Deterrence. The programs that we support include Ground-based Midcourse Defense, Precision-guided Munitions, Integrated Air & Missile Defense products (PAC-3, Avenger, ABMD); Missile Defense Agency National Team (Systems Engineering, C2BMC), and Strategic Deterrence Systems (which includes Minuteman ICBM support and guidance system repair).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Division technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Product Security Engineering related concerns
  • Division technical leader for all Product Security Engineer, Analyst and Test teams, providing technical leadership, mentorship, review and assessment
  • Support MWS Engineering management in recruiting, developing, and retaining talent
  • Support each program and pursuit with clear technical direction, and ensure the technical solutions and team are in place for success
  • Establish and execute program and proposal technology, talent and operations strategies
  • Establish and align division technical requirements with Boeing enterprise investments and priorities to maximize value and utility in our division
  • Division focal and leader for Boeing Enterprise Design Practices, Standards and Technologies and ensure the implementation across the division
  • Capability technical leader responsible for Enterprise Standard Gated Process (ESGP), where you will establish criteria and artifacts and have approval authority for key program milestones (PDR, CDR, etc)
  • Partner and technical leader with the Enterprise and Division Model Based Engineering and Digital Engineering teams
  • Division focal and SME for critical Vulnerability Management and Incident Response related to our products and services
  • Division focal and SME for DFARS and related compliance concerns
  • Defines the development and enhancement of system requirements and architectures for product security to meet all applicable certification and customer requirements
  • Ensures current and future needs regarding security of facilities, equipment, tools, data, networks, and resources used for product: design, development, build, test, storage, delivery, operations, and support
  • Consults on the definition and identification of product security requirements for suppliers of components and subsystems for integration into the most complex/unique Boeing products and services
  • Advises with enterprise, division, and program leadership on the most complex product security technical recommendations, solutions, risks, and opportunities as applied to the security domain with consideration of impact or leverage across other critical engineering disciplines
  • Principal representative with customers, suppliers, and industry to identify risks, and leads the improvement of industry and regulatory security standards and requirements
  • Generates evolutionary and novel solutions to research and development needs
  • Consults with customers on maintaining product security and certification, including security consequences of modifying products and servicesThis position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in a Technical Field (i.e. engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or similar)
    • 10 years of experience in systems, mechanical, electrical and/or software engineering
    • 10 years of experience in analysis of requirements, architecture design and product design
    • 5+ years of experience in cyber securityPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • Active U.S. secret security clearance
      • Proven experience developing, delivering, and supporting defense-related products and systems; experience with missiles and weapons is desired
      • Planning, executing, and leading the execution of multi-discipline engineering related activities in team environments
      • Defining, allocating, implementing, assessing, and validating cybersecurity related requirements over the entire engineering and product life-cycle
      • Performing, documenting, and communicating the analysis of cyber vulnerabilities, threats, and risks
      • Working with Risk Management Framework (RMF) plans and considerations for products and supporting infrastructures
      • Software assurance planning and assessment, including use of static and dynamic code analysis tools and results
      • Understanding and proven experience in systems and/or software engineering, including:
        • Development of Architecture, Requirements, Concepts of Operations, and Use Cases
        • Development of Hardware and Software products
        • Integration and Unit Test
        • Verification and Validation
        • Testing, including Acceptance and Fielding Tests
        • Using Model Based Engineering tools, such as CAMEO, and application of relevant markup languages such as UML and SysML
        • Using Development - Security - Operations (DevSecOps) relevant tools and methodologies
        • Understanding and working knowledge of various standards, including: DFARS Clause , CNSSI 1253, DOD 8570, NIST 800-160, NIST 800-53 (and 53A), NIST 800-30, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-55, NIST 800-137, NIST 800-39
        • Demonstrated history of performance in systems or software engineering, and operating throughout the course of the engineering or operations lifecycle.
        • Highly motivated and exhibit strong written and verbal communication, inter-personal, and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and effectively with external customers and subcontractors in a multi-site and multi-discipline program and environment.
        • DOD 8570, IAT / IAM Level 1 Certification or higherTypical Education/Experience:

          Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD years' related work experience, Master years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


          This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
