Job Description:

We are a diverse team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be responsible for the hands-on development of rotating machinery components as they transition to production. Affordable access to space is enabled by well understood products and the efficient processes that make them. The responsibilities of the Sustaining Engineer are essential to realizing that goal.

In this role you will be responsible for creating and maintaining engineering documentation and specifications that clearly establish design intent. The team will look to you to create, maintain, and track the as-designed, as-built, and as-tested hardware configurations and lead the processes for doing so. You'll have responsibility for evaluating product nonconforming conditions and mentoring others to produce well written dispositions for hardware discrepancies considering design requirements, safety, quality, cost, and schedule.

Strong design knowledge and the aptitude to apply design principles in engineering drawings, specifications, processes, and design manuals to resolve product and process requests and ability to guide others is essential.

The job requires the ability to perform root cause analysis to develop corrective actions supporting continuous improvement initiatives such as process optimization, cost improvement, rework reduction, scrap reduction, and similar quality objectives.

We are looking for someone to apply their leadership, technical knowledge and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission is required!

Qualifications:

* Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering * 6+ years proven track record with the production, assembly, and testing of turbomachinery components * Solid understanding of rotating machinery component design and manufacturing including turbines, impellers, cases, bearings, and seals * Experience with quality management systems supporting aerospace and propulsion-related hardware, including material review board interaction * Proficiency in drawing interpretation, configuration management, and creating engineering specifications * Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
