Laser Weld Technician

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of technicians and engineers, you will operate CNC and robotic laser welding systems for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of rocket engine fabrication.

Addition responsibilities include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Jog and dry-run CNC laser machines for set up processing
  • Program and operate CNC fiber laser equipment, both at the machine control and with offline software
  • You will provide manufacturing feedback to engineers and process improvement feedback to management

Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission and vision: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • Laser welding and/or CNC laser or robotics experience
  • Understanding of laser optics and processes such as cutting and welding, and part set up - including knowledge of laser safety practices.
  • Ability to set-up and accurately position large scale hardware
  • Ability to tackle program and/or machine issues
  • Self-Motivated with the ability to work within a team environment or independently as required
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and provide to our inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • 2+ years of direct experience
  • CNC G-code language online programming
  • Experience using laser optics and processes such as cutting and welding, and part set up - including knowledge of laser safety practices.
  • CNC offline CAM programming
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to operate manual machine tools (basic lathe, mill)
  • Crane operator/ lift coordinator experience
