This is a long-term MDA Technical Direction Agent (TDA) project requirement in support of a MITRE and MDA mission critical program. NGI replaces the legacy Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Ground Based Interceptor (GBI), which includes current and emerging sensors, radars, and C2BMC. Successful candidate will participate in NGI electronics assessments as part of a Source Selection Board (SSB); reviewing proposed technologies from participating industry partners. The NGI Lead EE will collaborate with other technical SMEs within the portfolio as well as other FFRDCs and UARCs.

Individual will research, analyze and assess electrical components, equipment, systems and networks. Assess designs of electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for strategic missile defense NGI purposes. Understand capability gaps in existing GBI system of systems, recommend modifications based on NGI requirements to assess desired results. Compiles and evaluates design and test data and assesses provided technical specifications. Analyzes and recommends design approaches to meet NGI production requirements for new or improved technologies and/or processes.

The electrical design for the system will use both ASCI, FPGA, and other active electronics. The person will be responsible for validating the electrical design, including firmwear, against gov't requirements. The ideal candidate will have a a broad understanding of electrical design for rad-hard systems and who can design an FPGA.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum Secret security clearance is required. TS/SCI preferred.
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) preferred. Additional education may include Aerospace Engineering and Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of applied EE experience, as well as relevant domain knowledge and technical skills in the development of electrical systems for missile and space systems.
  • Strong, demonstrated technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) Missile and space systems development; including assessing systems against performance requirements, conducting trade studies, and supporting flight tests.
  • Experience specifying and assessing radiation-hardened electronics.
  • Experience working with Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) or University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs).
  • Experience leading independent research efforts and producing technical assessment reports.
