JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be a "dual role", with emphasis being on Operational Quality (Manufacturing) and Supplier Quality (Supplier Development and Management).

The Quality Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organizational quality system at EFI Automotive. They are a professional who understands the principals of product and service quality evaluation and control. This body of knowledge and experience can include creating quality and safety documentation, monitoring, testing, and reporting on the quality of products, and identifying technical issues and problem-solving. The person in this role must be highly collaborative with peer groups, production operators as well as plant leadership. The person in this role will manage customer and supplier relationships and specifications, as well as act as an auditor for all internal systems to identify issues and recommend solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively evaluates suppliers, engages and managers customer-based quality issues and contributes to production floor process improvements.
  • At the group level, is responsible for suppliers and components in development (this can be for parts / projects in the US, or at another site).
  • Actively supports, owns, and facilitates the IATF audit process for the plant as appropriate.
  • Develops and implements programs to assess and improve the quality of products, components, materials and/or operations using classic Quality tools such as SPC, GRRs, 8Ds, APQP, PPAP, MSA4, FMEA and Capability Studies.
  • Acts as a Second Party Auditor with the Purchasing team for new components and serial process audits.
  • Creates policies and processes including standard procedures (e.g. audits/review, analysis of raw materials, finished product, etc.)
  • Leads PFMEA and Control Plans as appropriate.
  • Actively involved in new product development, working to improve supplier techniques, processes, hardware, software, fixtures, gauges, etc.
  • Develops and implements Quality related trainings to site and supplier personnel as needed.
  • Supports global EFI Automotive initiatives and projects, and overall strategic goals and objectives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participates in and champions Safety Committee and continuous improvement initiatives.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering related discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc.) highly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar Quality related role supporting Automotive industry, with OEM and launch/ramp up phases highly preferred.
  • Experience with customer portals for Ford, GM and Chrysler is a huge plus.
  • Strong organizational, collaborative and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Committed, dedicated and self-motivated work ethics, with full ownership of projects or assigned tasks is required.
  • The desire to strive for continuous improvement and excellence within a fast-paced growth environment is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting; standing; walking throughout the facility; talking; seeing; hearing; feeling; bending or stooping; squatting or crouching; reaching; kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting to 35 lbs. The candidate must wear appropriate/required Personal Protective Equipment and must be able to work at a desk or in front of a computer for long periods of time.
