Our Fabrication Shop in Huntsville, AL is expanding to a 2nd shift beginning in January 2021. We are seeking a Working Foreman to supervise and participate in the 2nd shift, which runs from 2:30pm to 11:00pm, with some 10-hour days as needed. Position Description: Responsible for fabrication shop operations and employees as well as assisting the skilled trades scopes within the shop as necessary.Reports to: Superintendent, Project Manager, and Trades ManagerEssential Duties & Responsibilities: * Assists in the organizing, planning and scheduling of the work and manpower within the shop, staying within budget and the requirements of the QA/QC program. * Assist the--Superintendent or Project Manager--in scheduling and expediting the delivery of materials and equipment for their timely delivery.* Provide input on shop logistics, organization, plant layout, equipment and manpower utilization.* Coordinate, direct, and monitor the activities of employees and anyone in the Fabrication area, as well as maintain the ability to work with tools alongside them when necessary.* Obtain, or ensure that the subcontractors or suppliers provide, the correct materials and quantities as ordered by the project manager. * Coordinate the shop hold and inspection activities as necessary. * Operate equipment such as forklifts and aerial lifts.* Completes and submits time sheets, daily construction reports, and required safety paperwork daily.* Participate in interviews and recommend hires for trades staff.* Supervise and develop trade employees, as assigned, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.* Address staff needs and resolve problems. Provide staff feedback, reward, and discipline as required.* Assist with the overall site safety and quality programs as required and ensuring Trade employees/subcontractors compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security* Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees* Ability to travel and accommodate night and weekend work as needed * Display a high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.* External DescriptionPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
