Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking a Senior Wire
Harness Design Engineer to join our Space Exploration
Organization in Huntsville , AL .
The successful candidate will become part of Boeing's Space
Launch Systems (SLS), which supports NASA on strategy and policy on
Space Exploration programs procured by the NASA Marshall Space
Flight Center (MSFC). The primary program under NASA's Space Launch
System (SLS) will provide a critical heavy-lift capability powering
people and cargo beyond our moon and into deep space. SLS launches
larger payloads farther in our solar system and is the most
powerful rocket ever built, enabling diverse exploration, science
and security missions. Boeing Space Launch System is responsible
for the design, development, test and production for the core stage
and avionics of the SLS.
The engineer will work as a member of the Space Launch System
(SLS) Avionics Mission Systems team of avionics electrical
engineers to design, oversee supplier development, install and test
wiring harnesses in the SLS system labs and test venues.
Provide support to design integration, vehicle
integration and suppliers
Develop and maintain cable/wire harness detail and assembly
Leads the team to analyze results and performs design
Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g.,
rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision
Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support
the design and manufacture of electrical commodities
Performs technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate
product delivery, monitoring and acceptance / rejection
This position requires ability to obtain program access, for
which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
This position requires the ability to obtain access to a
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience) :
Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science in engineering,
computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
9 or more years of experience working in an engineering
discipline (or Master’s +7/PhD +4)
1 or more years of leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) :
Experience with wire harness routing
Experience in understanding requirements and how to apply them
to vehicle design and ability to problem solve design issues
Experience in the defense or aerospace industry
PTC / Pro-E CREO CAD tool experience, or similar CAD
NSPAR parts approval process experience
Understanding of NASA-STD-8739.4 for vendor certification
Capable of working in a multi-tasking environment while
supporting multiple activities concurrently
Typical Education / Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced
technical education from an accredited course of study in
engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
(e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work
experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and
experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7
years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is
the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
