Who we're looking for

Toyota's Manufacturing Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Group Leader.

The primary responsibility of this role is manage production and support team members and team leaders.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the person in this role will support the Manufacturing department's objective to support the overall success of the company.

What you'll be doing







  • Working knowledge of equipment and process functions within area

  • Support daily trouble shooting for problems to achieve quality and delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Lead meetings and negotiate with customers and suppliers of all levels and capabilities

  • Support line side trial runs during change points test to ensure quality and delivery is achieved

  • Manage daily area activities, leadership and control of production lines

  • Develop Floor Management Development Systems (FMDS) and 5S within department

  • Ensure safety of team members and manage Early Symptom Investigation (ESI)

  • Develop direct reports by utilizing and teaching FMDS, 5S, 5 why, 3 Pillar and problem-solving activities for consistent understanding and application and continuous improvement within the department

  • Manage training and cross-training of team through on the job the development (OJD) utilizing standardized work tools

  • Must be able to quickly assess issues and provide short & long-term countermeasures with emphasis on Safety and recurrence prevention

  • Lead & teach Toyota Best Practice (TBP) problem solving methods through root cause analysis, countermeasure implementation & standardization as major part of troubleshooting

  • Remove roadblocks to achieve annual goals

  • Provide formal reviews as well as coaching with feedback to maximize team member performance

  • Develop our safety culture, with team members, that Safety is always first

  • Be able to make and justify safe & sound judgments with little or no direction

  • Be able to successfully manage multiple priorities and change points

  • Communicate and present technical issues to audiences of all backgrounds and levels

  • Cultivate the 3 pillars as well as the facilities Shop Self Reliance (SSR)

  • Perform Standardized Work (STW) audits

  • Judge quality defects and determine next steps: Seriousness of issue, containment activities and countermeasures

  • Maintain accurate tracking and entry of hourly team member hours of work and attendance for Payroll and Productivity reporting

  • Strong communication skills to development working relationships with cross functional areas and other departments (Maintenance, Support Groups, PE, PC, HR, A&F)


    What you bring




    • High School diploma (or higher)
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes in an industrial environment
    • Technical knowledge of manufacturing and industrial process

    • Knowledge of production safe work practices
    • Experience managing projects with cross functional teams in an industrial environment
    • Experience, knowledge and practice of continuous improvement processes
    • Experience with preparing/delivering technical presentations

    • Leadership experience in an industrial environment
    • Willingness to work a rotating shift (2 weeks days 6:00am-2:45pm, 2 weeks nights 4:45pm - 1:30am)
    • Flexibility to work overtime, 5-10 hours per week or more based on business needs
    • Willing to travel 5% of the time, to include domestic and possible international travel
    • Take and pass a 3rd Party Leadership Assessment


      Added bonus if you have:


      • Bachelor's Degree in Leadership or a Technical Engineering related field
      • Leadership experience which includes conveying manufacturing concepts and teaching the ability to problem solve
      • Experience with Floor Management Development Systems (FMDS)
      • Supervisory experience including conducting formal performance reviews, coaching and creation of development plans in order to maximize performance
      • Experience with Toyota principles and kaizen
      • Toyota Business Practice (TBP), Six Sigma or other related problem-solving experience
      • Experience in a leadership role, in an industrial manufacturing environment, within Assembly, Machining/Tooling or Conveyance
