Job Description:
Description The Receiver will accept all authorized incoming
steel deliveries and associated shipping documents. This entails
conducting thorough receiving inspections to ensure the quality and
accuracy of the received materials. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensures
the cleanliness and calibration of designated testing and measuring
equipment at the commencement of each shift. Obtains and reviews
the schedule of inbound shipments at the onset of every shift.
Accepts all shipping documents and incoming steel for authorized
inbound shipments. Provides guidance and advice to associated
support personnel as necessary. Executes all assigned
administrative functions efficiently and accurately. Adheres to all
safety protocols outlined in the plant safety handbook.
Demonstrates punctuality and adherence to attendance requirements
as stipulated in the Attendance Policy. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is
a prerequisite. Possesses comprehensive proficiency in operating
various measuring devices including tape measures, micrometers, and
calipers. Holds a valid forklift operator license, demonstrating
the ability to operate forklifts within their specified capacities
and conduct necessary inspections. Successfully trained in and
proficient at operating overhead cranes, including understanding
capacities and performing required inspections. Demonstrates
adeptness in utilizing a wide array of lift devices such as ID
lifters (skids), spreader bars, "C" hooks, sheet lifters, etc.
Capable of effectively identifying and locating loads for staging
purposes. Stratix Software experience a plus. Exhibits strong
interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate
effectively with team members and collaborate productively in a
team-oriented environment. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees are standing/walking 100% of the time; lifting up to 50
lbs. as needed; reading charts, tags, and written procedures;
printing or writing legibly to complete all required paperwork;
weighing and measuring material as required. EQUIPMENT, AIDS,
TOOLS: Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves,
safety glasses, and steel-toed boots . The ideal candidate will
possess the capability to qualify for a hi-lo license,
demonstrating proficiency in operating forklifts. This position
requires the use of various measuring tools such as calipers, tape
measures, micrometers, and hand tools. Additionally, competence in
operating crimpers and plasma cutters is essential. Proficiency in
conducting computer inquiries is also required. Furthermore,
experience in operating overhead cranes is highly preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The plant is on one level, accessible directly
from the parking lot. The primary work environment is within a
steel manufacturing facility, which includes: Stairs in the rail
pit and up to the slitter platforms. Short ladders on the banding
lines to climb from the floor to the conveyor. Seasonal variations
in temperatures from 60 to 95 degrees; Limited exposure to diesel
fumes as trucks move through the plant Exposure to moving
machinery, heavy equipment, and sharp objects. Work areas may be
subject to fluctuating temperatures, including hot and cold
conditions, dependent on the season. Loud noise from machinery and
equipment operation. The presence of dust, debris, and airborne
particles typical of an industrial setting. Adherence to strict
safety protocols to mitigate risks associated with the
manufacturing process. SUPERVISION AND CO-WORKERS/ATTENDANCE
REQUIREMENTS: Supervision and/or co-worker assistance are readily
available. Attendance is closely monitored, as unscheduled absences
may jeopardize meeting customer requirements due to insufficient
staffing. CONSEQUENCES IF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS NOT PERFORMED Failure
to follow established safety rules and procedures may result in
loss of position or termination of employment. Failure to meet the
requirements of the Attendance Policy will result in termination of
employment. Failure to observe safety procedures in material
handling may result in serious injury up to fatality and/or damage
and loss of material or property. Failure to move material in a
timely manner may result in production delays or customer delivery
delays, which may in turn result in the loss of business. Failure
to complete appropriate paperwork may result in inventory shortage
through loss of material or improper billing of the customer.
Improper storage of material may result in damage/loss of material.
