General Summary: -- The Personal Computer Support Technician provides support to distributed PC/networking environment including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for stand-alone PCs, PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals. Support responsibilities include software installation, and configurations. This technician performs technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages. Job duties require the technician to install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, load shrink-wrap programs and other application software programs. In this position, the incumbent troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs, resolves computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software. Required Experience -- Required Qualifications + High School Diploma or equivalent + 0 to 15 years experience in performing setup, calibration, testing, and trouble shooting of network and computer components + Active DoD Top Secret security clearance and immediate eligibility for DIA-SCI access. + Candidate must have the ability to pass CI Polygraph within 60 days of hire + Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs + Must be able to work from schematics, diagrams, written/verbal descriptions or from defined plans + Good communication skills + Ability to lift 50 pounds Preferred Qualifications + Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field + Two years of electronics training from technical trade school or military technical school or two years of computer training as applicable to the job + Experience and/or training with installation of electrical cabling + Experience and/or training with installation of telephone and video systems + Current Security+ Certification + Experience with Windows/Linux Operating systems Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
