The selected candidate will be a member of a small SDL team working with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville, Alabama. The candidate will have demonstrated software engineering expertise and will work alongside the government and contractor teams to support software, algorithm and simulation (SAS) efforts. As an analyst, developer and advisor to the Government team, and an individual who will be asked to assess and provide data-driven recommendations supporting the Government's oversight of vendor team design efforts, this individual must possess the experience, maturity and knowledge to interact with other junior and senior software professionals in a collaborative and team-focused manner. Deep knowledge of modern agile software development design, coding, test, and configuration practices, and modern software languages (e.g. C++, Python) and engineering tools (e.g. MATLAB) will be essential to this candidate's success. Additional expertise in missile defense systems and Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) tools and techniques is also highly desirable.Required Qualifications:
10+ years experience, degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, with an emphasis on practical software development experience Relevant software/firmware development experienceStrong interpersonal skillsFamiliar with Microsoft Office tools (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) in an engineering domainMust be able to travel to various contractor, vendor and Government facilitiesCurrent or past experience using C++, Python, JavaScript for software developmentExperience with MATLAB or other engineering and analysis tools Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret ClearancePreferred Qualifications:
Recent experience in Ballistic Missile Defense System programs or technologiesMS Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or other related software development majorWorking knowledge of Missile Defense Programs; experience with Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) is very desirableExperience with DoD software engineering, modeling and simulation policies and best practicesPrefer additional experience with: Electron, Jenkins, DockerSDL supports a variety of missions, including NASA's vision to reveal the unknown for the benefit of humankind and the Department of Defense's aim to protect our Nation on the ground, in the air, and in space.
