Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The Staff Software Engineering Analyst will become part of Northrop Grumman's Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) in support of the Missile Defense Agency. The GMD element, composed of the Ground Systems (GS) and Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) components, is a critical part of our nation's layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the U.S. with the capability to engage and intercept long-range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyzing user needs and developing solutions with a focus on optimizing operational efficiency. This role will be in direct support of GMD product team leadership
  • Technical development with working knowledge of DevSecOps, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery, and automated testing
  • Defining meaningful empirical technical measures in automated testing environments
  • Assessing issues for severity to mission and collaborating with subject matter experts and design team leaders
  • Summarizing assessment results and briefing them to senior leadersThe selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

    Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited university and 14 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree and 12 years of related engineering experience, or 9 years of related engineering experience with a PhD
    • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
    • Experience in modern frameworks and technologies
    • Experience writing functional and technical design specifications for hardware and software
    • Practical knowledge and understanding of cloud computing (Azure, Kubernetes)
    • Experience in software development and modern languages
    • Must be able to work in a team environment collaborate with other professionals to implement designs and solutionsPreferred Qualifications:
      • A degree in Software or related field
      • An active Top Secret DoD Security clearance
      • Excellent communication skills, able to understand requirements and provide solutions, with the ability to convey those solutions to teammates, customers and end users Salary Range: $141,800 USD - $212,800 USD

        Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
