A full range of information technology (IT) support services is
necessary to satisfy enterprise missions, goals and objectives in
the areas of IT Services, Enterprise
Design/Integration/Consolidation, IT Education/Training, IT
Program/Project Management, Systems Operations and Maintenance,
Network Support, and embedded Information Systems Security, Cyber
Security and Information Assurance to the Program Executive Office
Aviation (PEO AVN) Information Technology Support Services.
- Under general supervision, conducts or participates in the
planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data
processing systems software.
- Determines PEO AVN computer user needs; advises hardware
designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems
such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output
requirements; designs and develops
- Provide administration and management for local and remote
databases for various operating environments (development, test,
pre-production, training, and production).
- Perform database analysis, design, implementation, sustainment
activities in compliance with the PEO AVN existing software
- Participate in working groups and meetings to address database
- Prepare and deliver a Database Optimization Report that
addresses application/solution performance, lag time, transaction
time, data caching, optimization settings, database
clustering, query optimization, process isolation, and data
- Prepare and deliver a Database Availability Report that
addresses system downtime, corrective action plans, and outcomes
for each connectivity or functionality loss
- Design, develop, document, test, and operate backup and
recovery strategies, IAW the mission application/solution's
- Verify that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures
are fully tested and functioning correctly.
- Coordinate work, e.g., with Network Enterprise Center (NEC)
organizations, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Defense
Research and Engineering Network (DREN) organizations, Cloud
Service Providers (CSP), designated Processing Centers, the
Information Management Offices (IMOs) and IA/security officers.
Designs should incorporate functions that prevent a hack into
servers from accessing backup servers.
- Track and document database and server administration
activities through technical service tickets utilizing automated
tools provided by the Government
- Implement and verify compliance with security policies IAW AR
25-1, Army Information Technology; AR 25-2, Army Cybersecurity; AR
380-5, Department of the Army Information Security Program; DoDI
8510.01 Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information
Education and Certifications:
- BA/BS or AA w/7 + yrs exp
- Sec+; MCTS -DEV4
Background Needed and Years of Experience:
The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and
temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant
conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed
within an office environment, with standard office equipment
Sedentary - 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small
articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required. Jobs
are sedentary if walking and standing are required only
occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
