Job Description:

As a Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer, we are looking for you to drive and enhance our Linux processes, development, and offerings. You will be a key member of the software department, with responsibility for driving the Linux road map, setting best practices, and developing the team's knowledge through mentoring and coaching. Alongside enhancing our processes and development methods, you will also develop, implement, validate and test embedded software components such as firmware, device drivers, Board Support Packages (BSPs), I/O fabric frameworks, and user-space code. You will be responsible for producing and supporting high-quality products, to exacting software engineering standards for demanding customers. Within Abaco, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, where multi-discipline teams are operating in tight collaboration, you will be exposed to all aspects of the processes, design, testing, and validation of our products, within the development and the production environments. Role Responsibilities: Contribute and drive the Linux product roadmap Define best practices and policies for Open Source development Help architect an automated test / CI solution for our SDKs and supported distributions Coach, mentor, and help grow Linux expertise within the wider Abaco Software Department Produce firmware, device drivers, Board Support Packages (BSPs), and associated software components Provide customer support on issues related to Linux implementations Communicate development status to key stakeholders Produce internal documentation consistent with engineering procedures Produce customer-facing documentation Contribute to the continuous improvement of Software Development Processes Experience working in an embedded software environment with Linux Experience in C, Linux kernel, and driver development Understanding of scripting Problem-solving and creative solution-building skills Verbal and written communication skills Ability to work successfully in a team environment An understanding and interest in applying embedded software and electronic hardware to military and aerospace products Demonstrable knowledge of continuous integration and DevOps tools Knowledge of modern Real-Time Operating Systems desired Awareness of computer architectures and hardware design desired Knowledge of assembler language desired Role Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related discipline 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
