Guest Services RepresentativeMission and ScopeThe purpose of this position is to provide prompt, courteous and professional service to guests, trainees, and employees in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision, and Spirit of the USSRC.The position reports to the Museum Operations Manager but actively participates as a part of a team which includes guest services and theater operations. This team effort is to broadly organize, plan, and execute the mission for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.Qualifications Education: High School or G.E.D. desired. Must be at least 16 years old.Experience: Some experience working with the public strongly desired. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 3-6 months experience handling cash and operating a cash register in a guest service environment preferred.Behavioral and Performance Skills: Candidates must be organized, responsible, ethical, lively, energetic, and charismatic.Requires day and evening shifts and must be able to work weekends.Position DutiesMuseum TicketingProcess admission accommodations for daily guests in an accurate and timely manner ensuring that guests receive quality and professional service.Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for the accuracy and security of cash transactions.Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for achieving daily, weekly and monthly individual and team membership goals.Ensure that the ticket desk is opened and closed in accordance with the museum operating hours.Ensure that kennels, strollers and wheel chairs are well maintained, in proper working condition, and secured at the end of the business day.Respond to, and whenever possible, resolve guest's questions and complaints promptly and in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision, and spirit of the USSRC.Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for providing guests with a quality museum experience, including exemplary operation of all museum simulators.Maintain a tidy work environment at the ticket desk, e.g. removal of trash, filling and organizing of sales brochures.Other duties as assigned, e.g. mascots, driving small electric vehiclesConcessionsCollect tickets in a timely manner from guests entering the theater ensuring that they are at the correct presentation.Direct seating accommodations into the theater to ensure that guests are seated promptly and safely and seating capacity is maximized.Promptly direct and assist guests, in an effective and efficient manner, with exiting the theater upon conclusion of the presentation.Monitor the movie during the presentation to ensure that there are no technical difficulties or interruptions.Respond to, and whenever possible, resolve guests' questions and complaints promptly and in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision and Spirit of the USSRC.Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment by conducting thorough cleanings of the theater & surrounding areas before & after movies.Operate the Theater concession stand in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with written procedures and State Health regulations.Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.Museum SimulatorsMeet or exceed USSRC professional and safety standards for the safe, effective, and efficient operation of all simulators (museum and outside simulators).Perform safety checks, complete required checklists proper to opening simulators to ensure correct and safe operation. Ensure that simulators are operated correctly and on schedule.Report any simulator problems or malfunctions to the Aerospace Simulations Supervisor or Simulation Technical staff in a timely manner.The above duties reflect the general responsibilities necessary to describe the principal work functions of the job and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be in the position.General RequirementsWillingness to learn and growInterpersonal skills to work as an integral part of a teamMust possess a valid driver's license & appropriate referencesAppropriate interpersonal/personal boundariesAt least 18 years of ageMaturity of judgment and behaviorAccepts full responsibility of their actions and how these may affect othersAdherence and participation in the Center's Safety ProgramProfessional StandardsUnderstands and follows all policies & proceduresMaintains high standards for work areas and appearance, maintains highly professional manner to others, and understands that honesty & ethics are essentialEnsures that excellent guest service is maintained with each guestMaintains a positive attitude toward the position & the company and appreciates that promptness and attendance at work is a part of sustaining a professional relationshipPhysical Requirements of the PositionThis position has the following special requirements:Standing for long periods of time (6-9 hrs.) or for duration of shift assisting Operating ticket desk and cash register.Bending, kneeling, reaching to store & retrieve supplies, assist guests and lift up to 50lbs waist high.Talking and hearing to communicate with supervisor, guests, co-workers and trainees.This position involves working in both a climate-controlled environment and outside where exposed to various weather conditions and changing temperatures.
