Job Description Respiratory Therapist CRT/RRT - final candidate
will be hired into correct title and pay per qualifications
Fulltime Night shift with three 12 hour shifts 6:00 p.m. to 6:30
a.m. and with every other weekend - Holiday rotation - can be a
part of the NIGHT SHIFT NIGHT PROGRAM AFSCME union Posted: December
12, 2025 Offering a sign on bonus up to $20,000! The amount offered
varies based on experience and commitment length! As part of the
program, participants must commit to working to the maximum of
their budgeted shifts based on FTE status as off-shift hours
(12-hour blocks such as 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., 4 p.m. to 4 a.m., etc. or
8-hour blocks such as 11 p.m to 7 a.m, etc.). • Eligible
participants will receive an additional $2 per hour night program
differential, on top of their hospital’s current off-shift
differential, for night hours worked as part of the program. o This
$2 will be given on top of the new, market-competitive shift
differentials. • Any additional worked day shifts (meetings,
competencies, additional overtime shifts) will be paid without the
night program differential. • Respiratory Therapists who work
rotating night shifts as part of their schedule, but are not
participants in the night program, will not receive the additional
$2 differential. • All PTO (paid time off) requests must continue
to be approved, in advance, by the participant’s unit
director/manager, and the night program differential will not be
applied to the hourly rate paid for PTO. • Business unit leaders
will determine the appropriate number of program participants based
on business unit and department needs. Responsibilities:
Administers medical gases utilizing the following equipment:
cannula, tent, croupette, mask, aerosol mask, HFNC and trach
collar.Administers IPPV, IPPB, aerosol, nebulizer, and incentive
spirometry treatments. All of the above contain drugs except
incentive spirometry.Administers aerosols for the purpose of sputum
inductionInitiates and maintains mechanical pulmonary ventilation
equipment in the ED, Nursery and ICU settings. Performs arterial
puncture using both the radial and brachial arteries (may use
femoral artery with a doctor's order). Performs capillary punctures
on newborn infants and small children using either heel or finger
sticks.Responsible for operating, maintenance, calibration, and
performance of blood gas analyzers.Administers bedside pulmonary
function tests.Maintains an adequate level of laboratory supplies
for the Blood Gas laboratory. Prepares and maintains required
reports and patient records.Keeps up to date with current trends
and developments. Maintains working knowledge of Department
procedure manuals. Participates in inservice programs to improve
respiratory practice. Employee complies with established
occupational exposure policies.Does work rotating shifts as need
arises. Assists with planning, coordination, and supervision of the
activities of the technical staff during the shift. Consults with
Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) and Registered Respiratory
Therapists (RRT)regarding proper use of equipment, management of
difficult patients, etc.Assists in the evaluation of equipment the
Department is considering to purchase.Takes an active role in
inservice education of the staff and well as orientation of new
Department employees. Assists in the quality assurance program
within the Department. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt
to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to all
stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and
disease.Efficiently employs available equipment and supplies giving
due care to their use and maintenance.Available for staff
adjustments to help assure sufficient number of qualified staff are
available to meet patient needs and respond to unusual occurrences
and/or increased patient acuity. *Performs in accordance with
system-wide competencies/behaviors.*Performs other duties as
assigned. CRT Education and Formal Training Required: In accordance
with Act 60, State Board of Medicine, and State Board of
Osteopathic Medicine, must provide the Hospital with a copy of
his/her current temporary practice permit or current certificate to
practice in the Commonwealth as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. In
addition, must be a graduate of an AMA accredited school for
respiratory therapy and successfully completed the NBRC
Certification Exam. Experience Required: None. Specific Abilities:
Works under the general supervision of the Advanced Respiratory
Therapist/Clinical Coordinator and Administrative Director of
Respiratory Care. Performs regular functions without direct
supervision. Consults the Advanced Respiratory Therapist/Clinical
Coordinator, Administrative Director, and Medical Director as
required. CRT Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CPR
required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and
skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Must
complete Neonatal Resuscitation Program within one year of Hire
Date or transfer. Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR) Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Osteopathic Respiratory Care
OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) Act 33 with renewal Act 34
with renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal Licensure,
Certifications, and Clearances for RRT: CPR required based on AHA
standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration
component within 30 days of hire Must complete Neonatal
