Job Description Job Description Now Hiring a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) for Day Shift! | $7K Sign-On Bonus POSITION OVERVIEW: This role is designed to oversee the clinical operations within the hospital on a daily basis. Responsibilities include engaging with patients in a therapeutic environment, executing physician directives, conducting assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, managing patient care, and facilitating both group and individual therapy sessions. The position also involves referrals for intake and ongoing care, administering treatments, and ensuring patient goals are met through comprehensive clinical documentation, IV and medication administration, as well as educating family members and supervising other mental health staff. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To successfully fulfill this role, the individual must effectively perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations: Continuously assess patient needs and health status, ensuring nursing staff is available to meet those needs. Actively participate in treatment interventions and document patient progress. Evaluate patient care upon admission and continuously thereafter, adhering to established nursing practices. Ensure nursing staff maintains up-to-date care plans for each patient. Assign patient care responsibilities to nursing staff. Supervise and assess the clinical activities of non-employee nursing personnel. Review staffing schedules and adjust as necessary to accommodate patient care needs. Administer medications and perform IV procedures in accordance with state regulations. Implement physician orders effectively. Educate patients and families on medication administration, disorder management, benefits, side effects, disease prevention, and essential life skills. Conduct thorough nursing assessments, treatments, and tests. Complete psychiatric metrics and maintain organized, clear, and current medical documentation. Ensure a safe and sanitized therapeutic environment. Complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight while supervising nursing personnel performance. Respect and uphold all policies regarding patient rights and confidentiality. Monitor and evaluate patient signs, symptoms, and therapy progress. Identify and communicate any significant patient findings to relevant professionals. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Accept orders from licensed physicians and manage medication inventory securely. Document and investigate complaints and incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors in compliance with applicable laws and policies. Adhere to regulations regarding patient rights, abuse prevention, infection control, and ethical standards. Implement and comply with patient Advance Directives. Address any concerns regarding physician orders with the appropriate practitioner. Ensure timely completion and accessibility of patient information in medical records. Document all entries accurately, including verbal orders. Include consultative evaluations and any adverse reactions in patient records. Ensure informed consents are properly obtained. Maintain comprehensive medical records that include all necessary documentation for patient monitoring. Provide pharmaceutical services within the scope of licensure. Prevent infection transmission among patients and staff, identifying those at risk and implementing necessary precautions. Follow CDC guidelines for patient isolation and utilize personal protective equipment as required. Promote hand hygiene among staff and educate on infection prevention methods. Develop and reassess discharge plans to ensure timely post-hospital care. Facilitate patient transfers with necessary medical information to appropriate services. Provide emergency care as needed. Foster a drug-free and violence-free workplace. Meet all continuing education and qualification standards. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Strong understanding of standard nursing practices, particularly in geriatrics and mental health. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for de-escalating potentially violent situations. Able to make decisions and solve problems effectively, especially in crises. Familiarity with restraint systems and the specific needs of the patient population. Knowledge of non-physical intervention techniques and safe application of restraints. Ability to monitor the well-being of restrained patients and recognize when restraint is no longer necessary. Certification in first aid and CPR, with periodic recertification. Understanding of hospital policies regarding patient care, safety, and compliance with regulations. Knowledge of infection control methods and universal precautions. Familiarity with legal aspects of clinical practice and professional standards. Commitment to reducing the stigma associated with mental illness and advocating for patient rights. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in geriatrics or mental health. EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION: Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Registered Nursing Degree. Current State Registered Nursing License. Current CPR Certification. Current CPI Certification. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Availability for unscheduled overtime and weekend shifts. Willingness to work flexible hours. Travel may be required. TECHNICAL SKILLS: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to learn HRIS and scheduling systems. Familiarity with standard office equipment and computers. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, kneel, push, and pull as needed. Work is typically performed in a standard office environment with moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
