JOB SUMMARY:nThe Assistant Director of Nursing is to provide nursing services under the direction of the Director of Nursing in accordance with established policies and procedures of the facility, and local, state and federal regulations, to maximize the fulfillment of care-giving needs of the residents.nnESSENnnTIAL JOB DUTIES:nTo perform this job, an individual must accomplish each essential function satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.nRecognize and respond to changes in residents conditions and document observations, interventions and outcomesnEvaluate resident conditions;nassist in development of overall care plans for residents and restorative activitiesnReview and re-write care initiatives as directednOrder medications from facility pharmacynAssist in facilitating the coordination of nursing services leave with interdisciplinary teamnAssist in reviewing, monitoring, intervention and documentation of complaints and grievances from residents, families, visitors and employeesnAssist in organizing, managing, reviewing, monitoring, authorizing and administering nursing care functions for residents within the facilitynAssist with the scheduling report of personnel as well as the daily assignments of individuals working in the Nursing Services DepartmentnAssist in making routine rounds;nconduct tours with othersnMonitor the workplace for possible health and safety hazards, assist in the development and conducting of routine health and safety;nback care training programs to prevent worker injuriesnCoordinate with workers comp coordinator and offer reasonable accommodations for early return to work programsnAssist the DON with evaluating the competencies of nursing staffnFollow and assist in the development and implementation of universal precautions and isolation procedures;nassist in reviewing and monitoring compliance by staffnAssist in inventorying, identifying and monitoring the storage of equipment, supplies, etc.nnnAssist in planning and developing of in-service education for staff on related nursing services functions;nconduct training as directednParticipate in various meetings of the facility, such as care plan conferences, infection control, quality assessment and assurance, and any others as assigned by the DONnAssist in determining the staffing needs of the Nursing Services Department, including the recruitment and hiring of nursing personnelnMeet with nursing personnel, as scheduled, to assist identify and correct problems, and/or the improvement of servicesnAssist in arranging for and overseeing resident admissions, transfers and dischargesnOther duties as assignednnJOB REQUIREMENTS:nEncourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in residents personal and health care needsnAssist in maintaining a reference library of written nursing materials that will assist the Nursing Services Department to meet residents needs and comply with state and federal training and educational classesnParticipate in surveys made by authorized government agenciesnPerform emergency procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitationnRecognize, intervene and report accidents and incidents when they occurnSuccessful completion of required trainingnHandle multiple priorities effectivelynReliable transportationnnRequired Computer Software/Equipment used:nVarious operating systemsnScheduling systemsnEHRnStandard office equipmentnMicrosoft Suite applicationsnDesktop, laptop and/or iPadnPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE)nStandard medical equipmentnnREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:nExperience:no Preferred two (2) years experience in supervision of others in a health care institutionno Minimum of one (1) year experience implementing total patient care and care planningno Minimum of (6) months experience in geriatric and/or psychiatric nursingnLicense/Certification(s):no Registered Nursing Degree requiredno Registered Nurse in the State of Tennesseeno
