Engineering Manager - Electronic Security Systems - Federal Division What you will do Supervises a team of Security Systems Engineers to perform hardware engineering, software engineering and network level commissioning for Federal Security Projects. Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. Employs practices and develops processes to ensure cost effective engineering while providing consistent delivery and customer satisfaction. Serves as the Federal expert in application engineering. Location: Huntsville, AL or Washington D.C. Metro area preferred. May be open to remote/virtual (work from home) with the ability to travel as needed. Travel: Typical travel is 25-35%. May require the ability to be at a project site for 1-3 weeks at times depending on the project being supported. Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment How you will do it 1. Manages and schedules the workload of the Security Systems Engineering Team. Prioritizes work, supervises and coordinates projects to insure progress and timely completion of the engineering deliverables. Provides timeframe estimates to project management for job cost evaluation. 2. Develops, implements, monitors and communicates the Security Systems Engineering team processes, strategies and standards. Provides engineering cost estimates during project development phases. 3. Seeks out new and creative applications and operational techniques. Implements improvements in the processes, facilities, tools and equipment to improve quality, reliability, productivity, and to provide leading edge technology. 4. Provides advanced technical support on application or implementation issues. Serves as the Federal expert in application engineering. 5. Leads team of Security Systems Engineers to select controllers and end devices that will meet the specification, and minimize the total cost of installation to ensure that the project cost comes in below estimate. 6. Utilizes financial, contract management and other management reports to evaluate team success. 7. Develops and maintains viable relationships with customers, consultants and architect engineers. Leverages these relationships as needed during project development and execution. 8. Maintains high level of engineering standards. Ensures maximum reuse of proven designs and programs. 9. Performs complex engineering and supports network commissioning as required on assigned projects. 10. Hires, retains, mentors, performance manages, and plans for career development of direct reports. Prepares and delivers clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports. 11. Works with Federal teams to ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables in order to maximize successful execution of projects. Qualifications What we look for Required: 1. Prior experience in supervision of technical/engineering group. 2. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive responsibility in the construction or Electronic Security industry. 3. Strong understanding of cost management. 4. Good oral and written communication skills, especially in presentation of technical material. 5. The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance required. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.). Active security clearance preferred Preferred: 1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Masters degree or Professional Engineer Registration highly desired. 2. Eight (8) or more years of experience in Application engineering. 3. Recognized as a leading expert in several core engineering competencies. 4. Understanding of accounting principles 5. Strong understanding and technical experience working with Electronic Security Systems (CCTV, Access Controls, Intrusion Detection, etc) 6.
