Description
The Afterschool Site Coordinator will be responsible for building
afterschool program team that works well together, overseeing the
educational quality of the program and implementing the program
model to create the best learning environment for our students.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires the individual to perform a broad range of
activities and duties needing full range of motion, including
manual and finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. This
position requires the ability to provide excellent service to
program participants and other stakeholders.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work involves the supervision of school age children. Employee must
have the ability to provide a safe, constructive and educational
environment for the program participants at the school site.
Requirements
- Communicate and promote the YMCA mission, goals and objectives
to children, parents and the community at large.
- Participate in the afterschool program planning process prior
to the start of the program. Collaborate with the Director of Youth
Development and Social Responsibility in the selection of
staff.
- Assist with site enrollment plan development, enrollment,
completion of the enrollment paperwork, parent events and follow up
calls.
- Ensure that curriculum and supplies are received and
distributed prior to program start and maintained throughout the
program.
- Along with Instructional Coach, deliver on-site training to
staff in preparation for program launch.
- Ensure that the goals of the program are achieved for each
student.
- Manage and evaluate staff to ensure proper staffing ratios,
instruction and success of the program.
- Input and report required information in 21st Century Community
Learning Centers System.
- Coordinate activities and events for parents, students and
staff; including field trips, guest speakers, and community service
projects.
- Manage the established budget for the program.
- Oversee the use of date driven instruction utilizing formative
assessments.
- Work closely with the Instructional Coach to ensure students
are receiving meaningful and engaging instruction.
- Implement and maintain a positive behavior management system
that is clear and aligns with the school, district and state
requirements.
- Ensure health and safety of participants at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and
requirements.
- Serve as the connection between afterschool staff and the
students' parents to ensure support for their child's growth.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Youth Development
and Social Responsibility. EXPERIENCE/PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Willingness to carry out the mission of the YMCA and its
programs.
- Ability to see that all business and safety records and
procedures set up by the Association are completed accurately
within the defined time schedule.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with students,
staff, parents and administrators.
- Strong technical skills with ability to learn new programs
quickly.
- Passion and commitment to improving the quality of education
for children living in under-resourced communities.
- Experience working in urban/rural communities and managing an
out of school time program or other community-based youth
program.
- Experience working in an elementary school environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing school age
behavior.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong administration, organization and technical skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
- CPR, First Aid certificate within first 60 days of
employment.
- Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training required prior to
supervision of children.
- High school education.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 2 years' experience working with school-age youth preferred.
