*\*\* This position will be based out of a Huntsville, AL, location TBD. Initial training will take place in our Smyrna, TN, facility. \*\**

*Summary: *With the intent to grow into a plant manager role, the Manager In Training will learn the overall operation of the plant and helps to ensure its production, quality, housekeeping and safety goals are met. Supports the enforcement of company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
Supports the core values of the company by performing the following duties.

*E\**ssential Duties and Responsibilities \*include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Observes and develops good customer relations by working closely with plant manager, sales and customers to resolve issues.\*

2. Exposure to costing process and understanding programs to meet budget guidelines.\*

3. Develops an effective system of communication to ensure the effective two way flow of information to all plant personnel.\*

4. Comprehends required production goals as stated in Millwood standard operating procedures.\*

5. Learns strategies to ensure efficient utilization of employee aptitude, equipment, machinery and materials.\*

6. Helps supervise safety of all employees.\*

7. Evaluates programs to confirm all employees are properly trained on safety equipment.\*

8. Ensures that accidents with or without property damage and or injuries are reported promptly and a thorough investigation is completed utilizing appropriate accident and investigation standard operating procedures.\*

9. Collaborates with management to conduct reliable and accurate inventories.\*
10. Follows up to ensure housekeeping standards are met on a daily basis.\*

11. Understands and observes quality standards are met.\*

12. Identifies issues affecting quality, discusses with management and takes corrective actions.\*

13. Performs other duties as assigned.

*Supervisory Responsibilities: *
Works under plant manager and with up to three supervisors who supervise a team of employees with other various staff: the Plant Supervisors, Administrator, Maintenance, Shipping, and Receiving
Departments.

Is responsible for intimately learning the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Also may directly supervise employees (non-supervisory). Once capable, will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Further responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing performance with plant manager; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

*Reasoning Ability: *
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

*Computer Skills: *
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, inventory software, payroll systems, internet software, human resources systems, and order processing systems.

*Education/Experience: *
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

*Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities: *
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
