Job description: Position Summary:

Abaco is seeking a Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Capture to lead new business development activity for aerospace & defense and other markets. This position requires an experienced, results-oriented business development professional. This position reports directly to the Division Vice President of Business Development, Sales and Marketing. The individual will lead Abaco's efforts to identify, qualify, and prosecute a two-to-five-year business opportunity pipeline within the aerospace & defense, industrial, energy, medical, communications marketplaces aligning with Abaco's revenue and profit growth strategies. This person will synchronize all current and planned business development activities with Abaco's rugged, embedded hardware portfolio, product development roadmaps, marketing, service support organizations, partnering relationships, research & development, and field sales / support activities, resulting in a robust pipeline of growth opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



Leverage excellent business development experience and relationships with US Department of Defense (DoD) and Tier 1 and Tier 2 prime contractors and operate strategically with uniformed military users and acquisitions officers, agency level senior executives, and customer functions to identify and capture opportunities.
Develop the opportunity pipeline through analysis of end user and customer requirements and budgets, research & development and long-term procurement plans, and outreach to senior government and industry leaders and decision makers.
Qualify fit of Abaco products (current and future) through understanding of end-user and customer requirements, funding profiles, and program / platform schedule milestones.
Develop Capture Strategy Plans and Campaign Plans for pursuit of opportunities, drawing on successful experience across the business development life cycle.
Develop value propositions, discriminators, and differentiators; identify key decision makers, assist in identifying potential teaming partners, and develop Price-to-Win assessments and scenarios.
Lead and facilitate the development, delivery, and presentation of whitepapers and drive technical and acquisition client call plans and other outreach efforts to qualify and inform opportunity pursuit decisions.
Work as an integrated team member across the Sales account leadership teams in a highly collaborative and team-centric culture.
Pursue agreements to solidify Abaco's long-term position on platforms and programs.
Lead a small team of other Business Development personnel who may be focused on specific markets (e.g., US Army, global aerospace & defense, etc.).

Education:

BA/BS required with Engineering Degree preferred.

Experience:

15+ years of experience in a senior business development role with annual revenue and sales targets focused on high-technology, embedded computing components or subsystems.
Knowledge of the US government's acquisition process.
Experience with the entire business development cycle through contract award.
Knowledge / experience in the rugged, embedded hardware industry.
Formal Capture Management training desired.
Experience with Salesforce CRM application desired.
Ability to obtain a security clearance.
Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.

Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation communication skills with ability to effectively communicate appropriate messaging to all levels (internally and externally), including corporate, government, and customer executive teams.
Computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
