Purpose of the Position: The Director of Rotorcraft Systems Engineering and Simulation Center (RSESC) will provide leadership and management of RSESC while providing vision and direction of the center's research focus.

Duties/Responsibilities include:
--- Directs execution of over $7.5M in government and industry funding related to applied engineering, systems engineering, design, and system analysis, rapid prototyping, integration, and fabrication techniques.
--- Provides superior technical expertise to customers in the areas of system design and development, analysis in CFD and mechanical fields, reverse engineering, data analysis, trade studies, systems engineering, systems integration, material science, non-destructive testing, independent verification, analysis, and review, and manual development for Government systems.
--- Provide expertise in retrofits, upgrades, reverse engineering, and miniaturizations to improve systems to meet emerging requirements, address obsolescence or save on overall lifecycle costs.
--- Provide expertise in space mission analysis and the design, qualification, and fabrication of space and aircraft-mounted payload systems.
--- Support the Boeing Huntsville Design Center with part-time student engineering support.
--- Provide support to the FAA UAS Center of Excellence supporting the integration of UAS in the National Airspace System.
--- Provides leadership, oversight, and supervision of over 150 employees as part of a broad workforce exercising the full technical and managerial responsibility for research and advanced development of rotorcraft systems.
--- Conduct design reviews, and participate in development reviews and research program assignments.
--- Support reviews, assess, and incorporate research interface requirements.
--- Accomplish new research and development projects and provide necessary scientific services to support design, planning, scheduling, development, and timely completion of assigned research tasks.
--- Provide oversight of multiple complex systems and projects.
--- Take initiative on activities required after being provided a general and broad outline from VPR&ED. --- Master's degree in Engineering or Science, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
--- 5 - 10 years of proposal development work experience
--- Aerospace and/or aviation experience
--- Federal and state contractual regulations. NASA, DOD, and State government operations
--- Knowledge/experience in Marketing/Business Development
--- Knowledge of Research programs of other Federal agencies such as DoT, NSF, DOE, and EPA
--- 5 years of Federal, State, and Industry marketing experience
--- 5 years of University operations and managerial experience Desired Qualifications: --- Ph.D. in Engineering or Science is preferred
--- Military aviation experience is desired Published Salary (if available): $200,000 - $250,000 Advertised: Jun 09 2022 Central Daylight Time
