He will work closely with the Clinical Laboratory, R & D, IT, and other departments.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The Continuous Improvement Manager will collaborate with business leadership to develop an overall operational improvement strategy and identify opportunities for improvement ensuring alignment with primary objectives of the organization.Build, manage and execute on a continuous improvement project funnel for the business through facilitation of kaizen events. He/she will work directly with the President and other members of senior management to prioritize events/projects based on business need and expected dollar value of the improvement effort to the business.Establish a rolling 1 year roadmap with timelines to realizing quality/productivity/cost improvements at the business while holding safety as the number one priority.Promote and increase the awareness of Lean methodologies to senior leaders, managers & process owners and educate them on the use of the tools across all areas.Ensure alignment of all process improvement projects and Kaizen events with strategic business goals. Develop an organizational training strategy to conduct basic training for associates and identify appropriate team members in each area that need to be trained in LEAN skills.Act as the contact for Eurofins LEAN initiatives, facilitating the projects and tracking outcomes for reporting to leadership.Manage multiple complex projects across cross-functional groups to include: development and management of business case, project charter, determination of scope, and schedule, and define project milestones.Utilize a full range of proven Lean and project management skills to execute the project related duties of this position.Participate in leadership and strategy sessions as requested to support the operational improvement strategy.Train and coach associates in Lean methodologies, engaging the Quality Manager to help build Lean skills so they have the capabilities to implement, sustain and continue using Lean principles.Contribute, gather, and document best practices, ensuring that successes can be shared. Leverage numerous sources of information, such as the operational excellence program or reusing Best Practices from other Labs, to compile a robust set of best practices.At the start of the project, the Continuous Improvement Manager will run the day-to-day project management of a pilot, including team management, creation and tracking/monitoring of project plans, escalation of challenges, managing interfaces with local teams, identifying and testing solutions to identified operational issues, documenting overall impact, etc.Continuous Improvement Manager will ensure all elements are in place to ensure sustainable results including standardization, 5S, performance management, problem solving, and proper governance through 30/60/90 day follow up meetings to events checking the trending of identified metrics to determine the sustainment success of kaizen events. When the team is not on target with the identified improvement levels, the Continuous Improvement Manager will identify action items to get the team back on track and task out accordingly.The Continuous Improvement Manager will, with support of the Project Management team and other Eurofins experts, own and develop part of the methodology, create new training modules, review and challenge proposals from colleagues and lead and participate in workshops to challenge and further complete the methodology. As well as the creation and measurement of quality and productivity metrics in Huntsville and any satellite locations.Support or lead other Permanent Improvement Programs initiatives. Depending on the workload and team composition, a Continuous Improvement Manager might also support or lead other initiatives of the Permanent Improvement Programs group. He is expected to be a flexible team member of the "consulting pool" that can be assigned to different projects or initiatives, depending on the overall situation.Support the dissemination of the Lean methodology through coaching in projects, delivering of trainings, organization of onboarding events to visit sites, organizing knowledge sharing calls with a wider Lean expert network and contributing to specific Lean communications as newsletters.Define best practices. The manager will ensure that all identified and successfully tested practices are documented so they can be shared with other labs, using standardized Eurofins templates.Train and build the Lean skills of the local resources so that they can implement, sustain and continue using Lean principles.Work closely with R, Maintenance and IT departments for implementing new equipment, new manufacturing processes and new products.Participate in design and implementation of new product lines into the production process.
