Dean of Academic Affairs (Associate Vice President, Workforce Solutions) - Band 14 Job Category: Staff College Name: Bluegrass Community and Technical College Campus Location: Lexington, KY Department: Summary: In cooperation with College leadership, the Associate Vice President of Workforce Solutions is responsible for oversight and coordination of customized employer sponsored programs as well as providing assistance for innovation within academic coursework. The AVP has the responsibility and authority for the administrative and instructional activities of BCTC's Workforce services and training opportunities. The AVP works with and establishes partnerships with regional trade associations, economic development agencies, business, and industry to identify emerging skills and hiring trends. This essential role encompasses collaborating with faculty, support staff, Academic Deans, Provost, and the President to develop and oversee workforce and economic development strategies to meet BCTC strategic goals. The AVP reports to the Provost. Duties:

• With input from industry partners, develop customized training and comprehensive workforce programs that address employer needs, facilitate optimal employment outcomes for students, and strengthen the region's workforce.
• Establish and maintain partnerships within the community to build a network to promote our portfolio of offerings.
• Develop and maintain strong community support for program.
• Collaborate with academic leadership and faculty to identify opportunities for innovation in programming and implement design strategies to further entrepreneurial delivery.
• Represent BCTC at the state level through KCTCS peer team participation and interactions with state and local partners (Commerce Lexington, Cabinet for Economic Development, KY Chamber of Commerce, etc.) as well as regional and national workforce partners (Lumina, JFF, US Chamber of Commerce, etc.).--
• Participate in college and system organizational development activities including service on college and system committees and involvement in other initiatives as assigned.
• Prepare and administer the program budget with area input.
• Identify and manage funding sources to maximize workforce development skills funding, including but not limited to writing and securing grants.
• Lead strategic planning, continuous improvement, and marketing strategy for Workforce.
• Support accountability and institutional effectiveness by developing, implementing, assessing, and documenting procedures that support College operations and foster student success.
• Facilitate and approve all area reports and accreditation materials required by governing or accrediting agencies.
• Support area in using multiple forms of delivery, inclusive of distance technologies.
• Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and civility.
• Provide supervision of faculty and staff including appropriate involvement in actions and recommendations on recruitment, hiring, orientation, coaching, evaluation, and professional development of full-time and part-time faculty, workforce staff, and support staff.
• Cooperate with the College President, Provost, and Academic Leadership Team on the dissemination and implementation of college policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree (related area) and three years related work experience, or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications:
    • 5 years of professional experience developing and leading workforce and economic development efforts.
    • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
    • Strong research, analysis, writing, facilitation, public speaking and project management skills.
