Huntsville,Alabama,United States 6G5DP3 The Boeing Flight Capabilities Team in Huntsville, AL is currently hiring for a Mid-Level Loads & Dynamics Structural Analysis Engineer. The Space Launch System (SLS) program (primary program supported), in conjunction with NASA, is developing the nation's capability in manned access to space, including destinations beyond Earth orbit. This position performs loads development, integration, and documentation of advanced structural analysis across multiple Boeing Development Systems (BDS) programs, including the SLS Program, GBSD, and Commercial Crew. Position Responsibilities: Conducts analysis processes independently, in consultation with more senior engineers, to support loads analyses. Coordinates with other engineering groups both within Boeing and with the government customer to establish system environments. Loads analyses includes independent simulations of both ground and flight events to which the aerospace vehicle is exposed, and the development of internal loads on secondary structures or components associated with these mission events. Loads analysis includes independent simulations using NASTRAN of all ground and flight events to which the vehicle is exposed, and the development of internal loads on secondary structures or components associated with these flight events. Examples include liftoff, ascent (gust/buffet response), and base-drive analysis using NASTRAN, etc. Demonstrated experience with Craig-Bampton (CB) reductions in aerospace applications, launch vehicle applications are required. Demonstrated experience creating Load Transformation Matrices (LTM) for aerospace applications is required. Performance of loads and dynamics analysis to assure compliance with structural integrity and stability requirements with direction from the Technical Lead. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Mechanical or aerospace engineering degree required along with 5 or more year's of direct loads analysis experience or Master's degree with 3 years of applicable direct loads development experience. Familiarity with Finite Element Modeling including NASTRAN, PATRAN, and at least one year experience with MATLAB. Experience developing MATLAB data handling tools for large aerospace structural analyses. Collaboration - Experience collaborating with others; establishes and maintains good working relationships. Analytical Skills - Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources. Structural Analysis - Knowledge of structural analysis principles, processes, methods and tools for vehicles and their components, including company and industry standards and practices. Structural Testing Demonstrated knowledge of principles in order to plan, conduct, coordinate and/or develop test requirements; and demonstrated knowledge of multi-disciplinary structural testing of vehicles, their components or supporting technologies. Vehicle Structure - Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle structure, materials strength and properties, design criteria, loading conditions and processes (e.g., non-destructive testing, corrosion prevention). Tech Verification/Validation - Demonstrated knowledge of technical data verification and validation practices (e.g., technical review of engineering data, laboratory simulation, or actual procedure demonstration). Desired Qualifications (Preferred Skills/Experience): Technical competencies in engineering processes, engineering knowledge and comprehension. Typical Education/Experience: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
