Lead Power Supply Design Engineer - High Voltage Company The Boeing Company Job ID 1800086424 Date posted 11/08/2018 Location Huntsville Alabama United States Job Description The Boeing Company is seeking a Lead Power Supply Design Engineer --- High Voltage for the Design Engineering team on the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile-defense program. The Design Engineering team is responsible for designing RADAR Seeker upgrades and next generation concepts, as well as supporting production and special test equipment design. Boeing has a multi-year contract to develop, test, and manufacture the PAC-3 RADAR Seeker. This program encompasses concurrent design, test and manufacturing as new upgrades are incorporated into production. This long-term program is rapidly growing in Huntsville due to design updates, production growth, and Boeing facilities consolidations.----The Lead Power Supply Design Engineer ( Level 5 ) will own the design responsibility for the PAC-3 RADAR Seeker---s High Voltage DC Power Supply . They will be a Subject Matter Expert in high voltage power systems and have knowledge/expertise in power system architectures, design, and test. Experience with high power analog components using Spice (or equivalent circuit analysis tools) and the PCB design process will be needed. Familiarity with pulsed Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier (TWTA) power supplies and solid state power supplies is desirable. The candidate will familiarize himself/herself with an existing new high voltage power supply design, complete its laboratory test/validation, release for production, lead ongoing design improvements for production, and lead new/future power supply developments.---- Primary Responsibilities Duties will include (but are not limited to): * Leads a small group of electrical and mechanical engineers responsible for high voltage DC power supply designs and upgrades (at the system and component level) through concept, detailed design (including PCB layout), integration and test, production release, and continuous improvement throughout the product---s life cycle * Leads analysis of customer and system requirements and development of architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various power supply products * Leads development of high-level and detailed electronic power supply designs consistent with requirements and specifications * Leads reviews of testing and analysis activity to assure compliance to requirements * Identifies, tracks and statuses technical performance measures to measure progress and ensure compliance with requirements * Leads activities in support of Supplier Management with make / buy recommendations and other technical services for purchased power supply components * Coordinates engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product * Provides design solutions and analyses in support of production related issues and continuous improvement efforts * Plans research projects to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements --NOTE : Throughout much of 2019 the travel will be more extensive (> 25% to Huntington Beach, CA.) due to site transition activities, but will reduce after that.----Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes and defense, space and security systems. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) ---- Basic Qualifications ( Required Skills / Experience ): * Bachelor's of Science degree or higher in Electronic / Electrical Engineering (or related science or technology degree) * Experience designing or testing power supplies or high-power systems * Current / Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications ( Desired Skills / Experience ): * Experience with Spice (or equivalent) circuit analysis tools * Experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design * Experience in integration and test * Experience with Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers or solid state power amplifiers---- -- Typical Education / Experience : Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.---- Relocation :This position is based in Huntsville , AL .
