Effectors Department is currently searching for an experienced
Senior Mechanical Engineer to support development products and
subsystems located in Huntsville, AL. This Mechanical Engineering
position performs in alignment to expectations in the design,
development and production support areas associated with mechanical
designs, validation principles, qualification processes,
procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle.
Development work may include requirements understanding, concept
development, DFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP)
development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical
analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews. As a senior
engineer, expectations to be able to work as an individual
contributor or leading small team, with limited oversite. What You
Will Do: Technical ownership and execution of tasks, and may be
viewed as a prime technical contact in providing solutions to a
wide range of complex technical problems related to the design,
manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various
mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory
floor both at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers. Communicate
with cross-disciplined, engineering team members and suppliers to
analyze, model, and document the design technical data package
(TDP) and its capabilities and compliance with requirements. Serves
in mentor role to junior engineers, providing technical guidance to
others within mechanical discipline. Work autonomously with limited
supervision, acting as the responsible engineer for major hardware
subsystem. This often requires the ability to lead small teams of
junior engineers, and collaborate across multiple functions and
disciplines, such as supply chain, operations, quality, systems,
analysis, and electrical. Perform mechanical design, development,
and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end
items for defense system equipment in accordance with system
requirements. Collaborate with Raytheon factories and suppliers
with new product integration and manufacturing process
improvements. Perform and review tolerance analyses to ensure form,
fit, and function are as intended by design for the
use-application. Improve new and existing designs using Design for
Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Producibility
principles. Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem
solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment.
Qualifications You Must Have: Typically requires a Bachelor's
Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience. An Advanced
Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience Five years
of professional experience in mechanical design or related industry
Experience with CAD solid modeling tools and analysis tools
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) The
ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security
clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S.
citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We

sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis,
energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or

demonstrates initiative Willingness to support tasks as experience
allows relative to both design development and production support
Proficient in CREO (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)

development of our products. As part of our commitment to

86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith
estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers
