Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Principal or Sr Principal Network Engineer. The Network Engineer: Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

This position may be filled as a Principal Network Engineer or Sr. Principal Network Engineer.
Basic Qualifications:

• Principal Network Engineer: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; 0 years with a PhD; OR additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• Senior Principal Network Engineer: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 9 years of experience; or 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; 4 years with a PhD; OR additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent.
• Good understanding of IP4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
• CLEARANCE: Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance with a background investigation date within 5 YearsPreferred Qualifications:
  • Good understanding of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE)
  • Good understanding of advanced features like GRE, IPSEC, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.
  • A professional certification specific to the networking industry like a CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.
  • Experience with military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
  • Experience with tactical/military radio networks
  • Experience VoIP and VTC Salary Range: $83,000 USD - $125,000 USD
    Salary Range 2: $103,000 USD - $155,000 USD
    
    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
