Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal / Senior
Principal Structural Engineer to join the Strategic Deterrence
Systems Division (SDS). This position can be filled in Huntsville.
AL and supports the Advanced Programs Team. Final grade offered
will be based on candidate experience level.
What You'll Get To Do:
The successful candidate for this role will participate in the
development of structural designs to optimize dynamic performance,
development of structural dynamics analysis and methodologies using
advanced numerical solutions, establishing parameters for dynamics
testing, dynamics test monitoring and data processing, correlation
of test results to model predictions, and preparation of technical
documents and presentations.
This role will include leadership and performance of professional
tasks, including the ability to lead small teams and execute to
cost and schedule targets, ability to prioritize and adjust tasks
to accomplish the project result, ability to prioritize and
accomplish multiple task responsibilities simultaneously, and
ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop
innovative solutions.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule
allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday
to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive
relocation assistance package.
Job Qualifications:
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
---Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years
of experience; 3 years with Master's Degree; 0 years with PhD
---Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years
of experience; 7 years with Master's Degree; 4 years with PhD
---Experience performing structural analysis using ABAQUS,
FEMAP/NASTRAN, or similar FEA programs to calculate margins of
safety for stress/strain, buckling, etc. for metallic and composite
structures
---Experience conducting first principal hand calculations to
validate simulation results
---Experience utilizing Matlab, Python or other coding programs to
solve complex engineering problems
--- US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain an active
secret security clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
---Experience performing structural analysis using ABAQUS,
FEMAP/NASTRAN, or similar FEA programs to calculate margins of
safety for stress/strain, buckling, etc. for metallic and composite
structures
---A current DoD Secret clearance granted or re-investigated within
last 6 years
---Experience creating and running non-linear finite element models
using Abaqus or FEMAP/NASTRAN
---Experience conducting first principal hand calculations to
validate simulation results
---Experience utilizing Matlab, Python or other coding programs to
solve complex engineering problems
---Experience writing scripts to automate workflow using MATLAB or
Python
---Experience deriving loads for Ballistic Re-entry Vehicles or
Hypersonic Vehicles
---Basic experience with PTC CREO, NX or similar CAD systems for
model interrogation
---Advanced Composite structure analysis.
---Active DoD Top Secret Clearance investigated within last 6
years
Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $171,500 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage,
