STATUS: FULL-TIME (EXEMPT)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of Business Development is responsible for the sales and execution of concerts, special events, sponsorship, and membership, along with directing the Guest Services Team. The Senior Director of Business Development will also work closely with other departments to manage staff scheduling and training and is responsible for the execution of our marketing plan and strategies. This position reports to the General Manager and has the primary responsibility for generating revenue at Sand Mountain Park & Amphitheater.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:


  • Directly aligns with the facility's Mission Statement and Core Values
  • Develop annual revenue goals for membership, sponsorship, concert box packages, concerts, and special events; and create KPI's based on those forecasted goals
  • Hire, train, and develop the facility's Entertainment & Events Team
  • Develop and execute all membership sales strategies
  • Develop and execute all corporate membership sales strategies
  • Hire, train, and develop the facility's Guest Services and Marketing Teams
  • Analyze concert, special events, membership, marketing, sponsorship, and sales trends; and implement adjustment strategies according to forecasted KPI's
  • Establish pricing strategies, recommend selling prices, and monitor costs, competition sets, supply/demand, etc.
  • Develop and direct all aspects of the annual marketing plan, sponsorship sales, reporting, and retention processes
  • Serve as a public relations representative when needed/applicable for the facility
  • Effectively collaborate with key partners and vendors to schedule and host successful concerts and special events
  • Direct and collaborate on all concert talent buying decisions, concert contract negotiation, and concert execution
  • Direct and collaborate on all concert marketing plans, strategies, and in-season adjustments according ticket sales
  • Sustain rapport with key sponsors/box holders/corporate members/stakeholders by making periodic visits, exploring specific needs, and anticipating new opportunities
  • Effectively collaborate with all internal departments to achieve revenue KPI's and execute successful concerts and special events
  • Provide information to the facility's leadership team by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales and event data and trends
  • Assist with creating community-focused special events that align with our mission and maximize the positive impact the park has
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations/networking functions
  • Serve as Manager-On-Duty (MOD) on all scheduled shifts each month
  • Serve on the facility's leadership team
  • Collaborate with the facility's finance team to execute concert and event settlements, and analyze event profitability
  • Additional duties as assigned by the facility's General Manager or Assistant General Manager

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • A bachelor's degree in hospitality, sports management, marketing, business administration or related field is preferred
    • 5+ years appropriate experience required
    • Proven experience in high volume customer service and membership focused environments is preferred
    • Proven experience in concert and special events execution
    • Proven experience in contract negotiations, event creation, and planning
    • Experience with and expert understanding of strategic partnerships between clients, promoters, CVB, community stakeholders, and the venue
    • Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and negotiating skills
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
    • Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
    • Prior responsibility in management and budget oversight

      TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

      • Intermittent travel as needed to various trade shows, networking events, and corporate events
      • Anticipated 2-3 times a year but ultimately dictated by business needs

        WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

        • Must be able to lift 20 pounds waist high
        • Will be required to sit for extended periods of time operating a computer
        • Will be required to conduct venue tours to prospective clients
        • Office environment has intermittent noise
        • Prolonged standing at events both indoor and outdoor
